Allergies out of control...
Simon has allergies. He always has, and I was so happy when he was finally old enough to be put on singulair. It works most the year, but now, it's not working near good enough. He is now on his normal dose of singulair, plus he has to have benadryl regularly, but he can't have it during the day too much because it makes him sleepy.
He's been off dairy for years. I know that dairy increases mucous production, so it's not good for him. Is there anything else I can do here that may help him soon. I felt so bad, he had belt testing tonight and we had to give him some benadryl when he got back from school today, so he was so sleepy during testing. He still passed, but I don't like that he has to be medicated just so his nose doesn't run 24/7. Any suggestions are appreciated, even the craziest. I mean if you tell me to put him on his head and spin circles for an hour I'd probably try it.

Re: Allergies out of control...
I'll leave any prescription suggestions for you and his pediatrician to discuss.
In the meantime here are some non-medication things to do: nasal saline rinses every night washing hands whenever coming in from outdoors keeping hands away from eyes and nose when outdoors limiting outdoor time on windy or high pollen count days rinsing/washing hair and showering each night keeping house and car windows closed, running A/C whenever possible to help filter air not allowing pets to sleep with the child (esp ones who go outdoors)
