Homemade vegan grapenuts
What can I say, I was bored yesterday, so I found a recipe for homemade grapenuts and turned it vegan. They taste like grapenuts, but maybe a little sweeter
3 1/2 c. whole wheat flour 1 c. brown sugar (I used a 1/2 cup brown sugar and 1/2 cup sucanat) 2 c. rice milk mixed with 2 T. vinegar (you could use any fake milk or probably even water) 2/3 t. salt 1 t. baking soda Preheat oven to 375. Beat each item, adding in order, until smooth. Spread onto a greased cookie sheet. Bake for 15 minutes. Cool until you can handle them. Grind in a food processor. Return to the oven for about an hour, stirring them every 15 minutes so that they cook evenly. Voila! I'm having some in soygurt right now

Re: Homemade vegan grapenuts
Could I ask a "wrong for this forum" question?
I am not vegan, so could I just make the recipe with milk? We can't get rice milk or Grape Nuts here. And I love Grape Nuts! This would answer such a pregnancy craving!

Yep, the original recipe used regular milk I'm sure it'd be great!

Re: Homemade vegan grapenuts
I love grape nuts and I never buy them b/c they're so pricey and never on sale, so I'm trying this! Thanks! Little P.S. --- why the heck are they called grape nuts? |

Re: Homemade vegan grapenuts
Oh fun! I want to try this out.
Why are they called Grape nuts? Maybe because they look like the seeds in grapes? |
