Writing and Rhetoric?
Do any of you use CAP's Writing and Rhetoric? I've been toying with using it in conjunction with Bravewriter next year. I think my oldest would benefit from shorter assignments (Bravewriter projects are spread out over a month, typically) and the copy-the-example approach. I love, love, love the creativity of Bravewriter (I love so much about it, really) and I know I could tighten up the timeline on the projects to at least two weeks. The problem is that Pepper is oh-so-stubborn and has decided that it's time for New and Shiny.
I'm thinking I could do a week of W&R, then a BW project and alternate to get her writing up to snuff. Any thoughts?

Re: Writing and Rhetoric?
We use it, and it has been a good fit for us. DD 1 is on book 5, DD 2 just started book one. We do one lesson a week and I totally think you could put it down and pick it up again. It gets progressively more challenging - book one you can finish lessons rather quickly, but in book 5 it takes DD several hours, especially if she is practicing outlines. I typically read the first part of the lesson and we do the talk about it stuff together, and then they are on their own to complete the lesson and then I check it.
One thing I particularly love? The student and teacher books have the same page numbers. Makes it so nice to find our spot!

Re: Writing and Rhetoric?
Thanks!
One other question, if you don't mind. Do you think the Teacher's Manual is necessary?

Re: Writing and Rhetoric?
Yes, at least for me. Maybe if you have a good grip on the subject you wouldn't need it as much, but it helps me know what they are looking for, especially as the books progress. I also read from my teacher's book as they follow along for the first part of the lesson.
