Also, (hypothetically since this isn't an issue anymore) Could we talk about why the younger kids should get vaccinated? I thought that if you weren't vaccinating against chicken pox you were assuming your kids would get it and hoping the sooner the better because the younger a person is the "easier" it is.

They could also just get titers done the next time they get blood work. Seems easier to me than dragging them into the office.

Yes, shingles is on the rise and it's most likely because wild CP is less rampant. It is also not really known how the vaccine works re: shingles (does it help protect against or not? Because you can get shingles after the vaccine even if you've never had CP). I believe proof of having had the disease (per an MD) is more accepted than titers when it comes to CP, but I may be wrong.

This sounds pretty much like what others around GCM experienced when their unvaxxed kids had the wild pox. It wasn't a super big deal. My daughter was just reading a Barbie book to me. Skipper got Chicken Pox. No big deal. It was obviously written in the early 1980s!

I think you need documentation that your kids got CP from the doctor. Did you take pictures? I would call and ask if doctor wants you to bring kids in.
