Re: my cat bit me; do I need to see a Dr?
Honestly it gives people false hope to take antibiotics that were left over from a family member.....different bacteria need different antibiotics. The dose and length of treatment need to be adjusted for your situation....it isn't a one size fits all.
My own father wanted me a RN to tell him it was ok to take some antibiotics from a previous UTI and I wouldn't--made him go see his dr. Don't take short cuts with your health....go see your MD!

Re: my cat bit me; do I need to see a Dr?
Any improvement today?
Is he under a lot of stress? That's quite a reaction to a cat bite. If the cat was a chronic biter it would make more sense but the chances of you dying from a treated cat bite are crazy small. (I thought he was a psychiatrist, not an internist?) |

If you are worried about it, get it checked. It doesn't make sense to stress about something with an easily accessed answer.

my cat bit me; do I need to see a Dr?
He is double boarded and practices as both a psychiatrist and internist. He has been under a ridiculous amount of stress lately, mainly from trying to get his mom's flight straightened out. That has been a nightmare. In general though because he has seen worst case scenarios play out in the er, he does tend to worry more about injuries and such. He wasn't worried about death so much as an infection landing me in the hospital for a long time.

my cat bit me; do I need to see a Dr?
7 years of residency. He was due to graduate from psychiatry when we found out that I was 6 months pregnant with D. I would have been due right after he graduated and would have started a new position. So, rather than move with a newborn and a one year old, he did a second residency. That second residency came in handy when his mom was staying with us for 403 days (and 2 hours and 55 minutes, not that I kept track of the time or anything )

Re: my cat bit me; do I need to see a Dr?
I was breastfeeding. No morning sickness. I gained weight, dh was ecstatic and took me shopping for new clothes. My periods had always been irregular. What can I say?

That makes sense.
I'm still lol at your MIL comment. I would lose my mind if I had ever had to be around my MIL that long. I'm glad it looks better today and hurts less. |

Re: my cat bit me; do I need to see a Dr?
So glad that it's looking better! What did your dh recommend about it? Does he think you should get it seen or is he comfortable with it as is?
You are very blessed to have a doctor as a husband. Great insider tips.

Re: my cat bit me; do I need to see a Dr?
He is comfortable with it as is because the swelling continues to decrease, as well as the redness. No fever, chills, and I had a tetanus shot already. I am not immunocompromised. There are a whole list of criteria which put me at low risk.
