I think if you need to know what it means, you would. It is a professional sounding word. Maybe couple it with some kid type logos?

Well, the photo on the flyer has 2 of my girls wearing glasses. But, it was pointed out to me after the fact that when you have people model frames, you should take the dummy lenses with logos on them out first!

Thanks for mentioning.

I would like to really say I can fix amblyopia and strabismus and problems other optometrists don't.
I have started doing vision therapy and have a few cases going!

My 2 cents . . .

Childrens eye exams wouldn't catch my eye. To me, that's the wording of someone who is a generalist and oh, s/he also does eye exams. (Just like every one else in town.) Pass.

Pediatric optometrist comes across as someone with specialized expertise & that is the one that I would research farther.

For me, Pediatric Optometrist is way more professional. You could always have a written blurb bellow that throws in the words children and eye exams.

Pedi usually refers to feet. So a pediatric optometrist might refer to someone who treats people with eyes on the bottom of their feet.

Oh you laugh.... before I had kids and was still a working archaeologist, a grad student and I did a packet for teachers all about archaeology. We had encountered the misconception about what an archaeologist does so many times, we included paleontology with a 'we don't do this' message. One day I get this call from a woman who is trying to correct my information. "It says here that paleontologist are the people who work with dinosaurs and are not archaeologist. BUT paleo means old, so it's anyone how studies old things and digs, so this is wrong.' Me: "no mam, although paleo does mean old, archaeologist only study old things that have to do with human activity. Archaeologist study people in the past. Paleontologist study dinosaurs. We both dig, but have nothing in common after that." "BUT PALEO means OLD". This went on for like ten minutes before I finally did the 'Mam, I have a graduate degree in archaeology, you are just going to have to take my word on this.' and cut the conversation off. She was a teacher.

So CJ, you're saying that the Paleo diet is more of a dinosaur based lifestyle than a human one? :razz2

Anyone who doesn't know what pediatric means probably doesn't need your services, but if they do Google will probably help them find you,

Yes. But. In the UK children generally are seen by the family GP and they'd only go to a pediatrician if there was a problem. And often terminology is chosen to be more approachable rather than professional.

So in different regions I would expect to see different ways of advertising the same service. Depends what's normal for that region. In some places I'd expect "children's eye exams" to be the main listing, then info on qualifications etc in the small print. If that was the usual way of advertising that service in a region then seeing a place that advertised "pediatric optometry" might cause some people to assume it was more specialist than they needed.

The listed things she treats definitely indicates the further end of the specialty spectrum. Anything less than Pediatric Optometrist would lead me to believe that it was more like vision screening and not actual treatment based care.

In the US, yes, virtually 100% of people know what "pediatric" means because most children see a pediatrician as their doctor, at least when they are babies. If you see a doctor it is often at a group like "xyz Pediatrics".

In other countries, I don't know if it is common knowledge among someone of lower education.

Australians seem to be paediatrician obsessed so I don't know anyone who wouldn't know that word.
