it was a barbie fairytopia doll, and she was already painted.

she was a wee bit too tall, so i had to do some extra piping...

Those cakes are AWESOME!!!!!!!

I love that baby cake, I think it was my favorite! But then, I just love babies!!

I would love to make a cool cake for my kids for their birthdays. But I'm always so worried/paranoid/obsessed with making "healthy" cakes, or at least as healthy as possible. Plus, we're vegan and kosher so my options are limited!

I have no cake decorating talent... but I could not read this thread and comment on how wonderful these cakes look. So much diversity and just gorgous! You gals sure need a round of

Edited to add... I read about the marshmallow fondunt somewhere online and found an easy recipe that can be made ahead, (the post actually recommended making it ahead), so if I can PLAN AHEAD... I just may be able to coordinate a special birthday cake for DD's 5th birthday coming up on July 4th...gives me some time to plan at least.

Looking through this thread made me realize two things:

1) You ladies are AMAZINGLY talented.

2) I have never in my life decorated a cake. At all. Not even with just frosting/icing.

How did I get to be 40 years old without ever decorating a cake?

How do you post pictures?

Since so many other amateurs have posted too I'd like to post some of mine! I've made every cake except one and it was because DD1 requested a store cake for her 4th birthday... she hasn't wanted one since

I've never used fondant icing and typically use store stuff and don't have fancy tips or anything... I use the old knife and plastic baggie method. But the kids design their cakes (except for 1st b'days) and I go off their design.

You can upload pictures into a site like photobucket.com and post them from there.

put your mouse over the image and there are little boxes underneath the image with links in them that pop up... copy and paste the link that says "IMG code". or, you can put a check mark in the little box in the upper right of the scroll down box, and then go to the bottom of the page and click "generate HTML or IMG code". then you can copy and paste where is says "clickable thumbnails". that way people can click on your picture to be brought to a larger picture. does that make sense?
