coffee lovers...
ok, that's kind of a deceiving subject title...it doesnt TASTE like coffee, but theres coffee in it
I found a recipe for a roast w/ this sauce thats made with coffee...I was a little sceptical but I like to try new funky things when I cook...soooo, I made it for dinner tonight and it was REALLY yummy! So I thought Id pass it along...hope someone enjoys it! Ingredients: 1 (3 pound) beef sirloin tip roast, cut in half 2 tablespoons vegetable oil 1 medium onion, chopped (I used two! my dh loves onion) 2 garlic cloves, minced (I used 5! I love garlic..haha) 1 1/2 cups brewed coffee 3/4 cup water, divided 1 large beef bouillon cube 1 tsp. salt 2 tsp. dried basil 1/2 tsp. coarsely ground pepper (I only had lemon pepper ) all purpose flour Brown all sides of roast on med-high heat in hot oil in a large skillet for 5 minutes on each side. Place roast in slow cooker. Add onion & garlic to skillet and saute for 2 minutes or until tender. Stir in coffee, 1/2 cup water, boullion and next 3 ingredients until well blended. Transfer to slow cooker. Cover & cook on low 6 to 7 hours or until tender. Transfer roast to serving platter, cover with foil to keep warm. Measure drippings and return to slow cooker. For every cup of drippings, add 1 tbls. of flourto remaining 1/4 cup water. Whisk to blend. Whisk mixture into drippings. cook, uncovered on high for 5 minutes or until thickened. serve over roast... I had this with boiled potatoes and steamed cabbage...it was pretty darn tasty |
