Anyone here make soap?

Like with lye and oils, etc? I've tried making some goat milk soap and have some questions if anyone might have some answers

Ok......so my directions said to leave it in the mold for 24hrs, but some of them don't want to come out. Do I leave it longer or has the ship sailed on that part of the batch?

Secondary question - the ones that didn't come out of the molds nicely, can I melt them and put them in the molds that did well?

what kind of molds did you use? did you line them? i always found lining them- i think with wax paper??? i would have to look it up, was helpful.

you can try and just turn them upside down and leave them for a bit to see if they will come out, otherwise i would probably just try and pry them out.

i don't know about remelting...

i googled a bit, and you could try freezing it and then running the mold under hot water and see if it comes out. or if your mold is oven safe, you can throw it in the oven on low temp for a few minutes and see if it will come out.

oh and what kind of soap are you making? glycerin? melt and pour? cold process?

I think it's cold process. I mixed goats milk with lye and then mixed that with oils until it 'traces' and then put it into the molds

okay then you can remelt and pour. it will lose some of it's scent and color if you added it so you might want to add a bit more, but otherwise it is okay.

and again line your molds or even grease them with a bit of cooking spray.

The darker soaps have honey in the mix, the lighter are just goat milk. There in the middle is a little frog - his friends are the ones that are not coming out.

Thinking back, I think the molds had been sprayed for the original batch....there was a 'first' batch that didn't get poured so I had forgotten about that.
