that just reminded me of the time my best friend was over and we were chatting in the kitchen... i had put some co into something and then put some on my hands and rubbed it in. she gave me this look like and said "did you just put FOOD on your SKIN????" she uses RVCO now, too.

Re: Talk to me about coconut oil
Alright, you've all convinced me. I'm going to get some next paycheck, too. I know someone who doesn't use soap or shampoo or conditioner any more, but only uses coconut oil. I can see this on the skin, but on your hair? It seems like it would get oily. Anyone try it one your hair??

Re: Talk to me about coconut oil
Am I the only one that gets icky skin with coconut oil? It seems like it makes my skin drier somehow It feels really nice going on but as soon as it's all soaked in my skin feels like sandpaper.

Re: Talk to me about coconut oil
Mother of Sons, Luke's skin did that the first few times and then he got a rash now we have him off coconut entirely to see if he's allergic.

Re: Talk to me about coconut oil
I realized this morning that what I bought is not Extra Virgin CO. It just says "organic" and "expeller pressed" and "refined for med high heat". So is it going to do any of the same wonderful things that EVCO does?

Re: Talk to me about coconut oil
i'm not sure. it sounds like it may be a good cooking oil, but maybe not for all the stuff we're talking about?

Re: Talk to me about coconut oil
Mother of sons - I don't like the way it feels on my skin either. It doesn't feel moisturizing at all. Just sort of sits there all oily with my really dry skin underneath. :/

Re: Talk to me about coconut oil
Do those of you who don't like CO on your skin have dry/sensitive skin? I do, and I felt like the CO just sat there on my skin. I wasn't crazy about it.
CO is the greatest ever for "the spin" though. |

Re: Talk to me about coconut oil
I'll have to try it on my hair, too. I've got curly hair that tends to get dry, so maybe this will help.

Re: Talk to me about coconut oil
one thing to really emphasize like others have mentioned - definitely get the unrefined extra virgin coconut oil. It really makes a difference. A while back before I had kids I tried it on my hair and the refined stuff made it feel like straw.
