Re: Cake Decorating!
Wow, you all's cakes are so NEAT! You all are a talented cake-making crew.
So many wonderful ones!! I especially thought the mini-cakes /cupcakes that were decorated were neat, crunchymum. I had never seen that done and they are so pretty. (And I love miniature stuff!) And FaithFilledGranolaChick - you said you didn't like your 2nd cake, but I thought your 2nd cake looked pretty. And about that cakewrecks site that Ashley had mentioned last week and I see was mentioned in this thread!!!! Cake decorating / making is not at all my forte, but I did want to make my own cake for Pookie's 1st birthday. It wasn't too imaginative or at all professional-looking, but that's okay - it was homemade which was what I wanted! Now I need to think of something for his 2nd birthday in December. |

Re: Cake Decorating!
I almost didn't post after seeing all of your lovly cakes, but DH & I did this together for Fuzzy's 2nd bday. He's hooked on his Charger's jersey, so we made one for him. We had so much fun, no tip for the yellow icing, offcentered everything & all

Re: Cake Decorating!
This is DD's first birthday cake:
And this is her smash cake: The design coordinated with her plates and napkins. It's not the cleanest work I've ever done. It was humid that day and the first time I've ever worked with Marshmallow fondant - it kept sticking on me. Oh well, the cake was yummy anyway and the birthday girl was just happy to have her sugar high! This is a baby shower cake I did recently: The shower was for two ladies: one having a boy and one having a girl. It was a nice gender neutral cake and the head was chocolate and the body was vanilla so we had two flavors. |

ashley, what a clever idea! and it turned out fine, you goose. i might have to try that... i did a couple more, one for ds's birthday and one for a friend's ds's birthday on saturday... ds wanted a light saber cake. star wars font is hard to do on a cake! and my bf's ds's cake... i asked what she wanted and she said he loves dinos... my favorite part is the mini marshmallow eyes and tail spikes!

Re: Cake Decorating!
I thought I'd post this cake that I did a couple weeks ago since I mentioned to crunchymum in another thread about just icing in buttercream and putting fondant decorations on.
It is an ugly cake, but it is all I have a picture of. She wanted orange, pink, and turquoise, so that is what it is. I let DD roll the little fondant balls around the border (after meticulous hand washing). Oh, and for taking a cake somewhere, that nonskid foam works wonders! Here is a chocolate one that was also in my photobucket. No fondant on this one. mollobe, every time I go to this page, I drool over the chocolate cupcakes!
