Natural pain relief for C section mama?
A family friend had a C section late saturday night and went home yesterday afternoon. She has not had positive experiences taking pain meds/narcotics in the past. Any ideas ?

Re: Natural pain relief for C section mama?
Hot rice bags. They saved me when I had a dry socket after dental work. The benefit of the bags is that they 1) mold around the area and 2)no fear of going to sleep re an electric cord since there isn't one.

Re: Natural pain relief for C section mama?
When I had a c-section, I was able to avoid narcotics and just took ibuprofen for about a week. It's important to rest and really avoid putting strain on the incision site. Heat probably would have helped too.
That being said, I naturally have a high pain tolerance. Everyone is different. A c-section is major surgery, and my nurses kept telling me that it's important to stay on top of pain relief because it's much easier to manage pain if you don't let it get agonizing.

Re: Natural pain relief for C section mama?
Homeopathic arnica montana. A health food store will likely sell it in the 30c potency but, if she can get a higher one, a c-section definitely qualifies as a situation where she could go higher, even up to 1M.
I also second ibuprofen. Even with major dental surgery including some bone work, I did not take the narcotics. I believe I healed faster using only ibuprofen and homeopathics. Of course I have no way of knowing for sure. |
