Sleeping alone to cosleeping
Our son is 2.5 years old and has been sleeping in his own bed and room since he was about a year old or younger. I was never comfortable with this, but circumstances called for it. He is now at a stage where being alone in a dark room is scary, and he will come out of his bedroom a few times during the night.
For the past few nights, I've been sleeping with him in my bed because I am now a single mother. I love having him with me in bed, but I am also pregnant. Soon, I will be cosleeping with an infant. I guess my question is - should I risk having my toddler used to sleeping with me again, or is it best not to disrupt what has been his normal for two years? I am thinking he'll have to go back to sleeping on his own after baby comes. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Re: Sleeping alone to cosleeping
If the bed is large enough you should be able to sleep with both babies. If you've feel it might be too crowded or his sleep might be distributed, I would still find a way to have him in your room.
My kids weren't consistently ok with sleeping alone until they were 4-5yo.

Re: Sleeping alone to cosleeping
Agreeing! If bed isnt big enough I would consider wedging a twin in there so there is plenty of room for all.Even when they are sleeping in diff room pretty much full time there may be times when he will need you and you all will get more sleep if he has a place right there next to you.Especially if you are single parenting . I always used a teeny flashlight if needed to be able to see better during night for diaper changes or whatever. You will also need to be sure that there is a buffer of some kind between toddler and baby if you have to go in bathroom during night or something. Something like this maybe? https://www.google.com/search?q=baby...ru%3B800%3B513

Re: Sleeping alone to cosleeping
Also if you do decide to cosleep long-term, you might want to introduce some white noise to muffle grunty baby sounds or your getting up in the night with the babe.
A simple box fan on low is nice (and I recently discovered that there are filters you can pop on them to make an inexpensive air filter. Having a fan on in the room a baby is sleeping in has also been show to reduce risk of SIDS- or at least I recall reading that study when dd3 was born ). We've also used this Graco white noise machine since dd1 was a baby.
