So what are Pearl followings saying about the Schatz case?
I'm curious. Does anyone know?

Re: So what are Pearl followings saying about the Schultz case?
Not much. Some are laying low ... some are posting on the NGJ site and saying how the world twists things...that this case surely can't be blamed on M. Pearl... blah, blah, blah... sheep. Groupthing at its finest. I swear... I have so much I want to say but I won't...on a public forum.

Re: So what are Pearl followings saying about the Schultz case?
I had a couple comments from facebook friends after I posted about this topic - they both said that the Schultz took Pearl's teachings to the extreme and that OF COURSE he would never advocate beating a child to death, etc.

Re: So what are Pearl followings saying about the Schatz case?
I think when this thing goes to trial they will show that this family did things *exactly* how M. Pearl stated in his books. They were not angry or out of control. They were very calm and methodical in carrying out this beating. Full of "joy" just like M. Pearl states These people who defend NGJ don't want to see the truth because that would be too difficult. They paint him with a brush that he can do no wrong ... because if the things we were staying were true, what would the truth left for them to face be?

You can go to their Facebook page and see for yourself. Yes, No Greater Joy has a Facebook page. It's been a veritable rallying around him, and they even said that he shouldn't do the interview because the world cares nothing for God's Word.

Also that it is imperative that the blame not be shifted from the parents to the Pearls. If you go to Spunky Homeschool's latest post (as of Mar. 17th), you can read more supporters in the comments.

Re: So what are Pearl followings saying about the Schatz case?
See, I think that the parents are to blame. Seriously. These are experienced parents. These are reasonably intelligent adult people. They really should have known better. At some point, you say, "Hey. This isn't working. Lets say we take another tack?" I believe that they are using Pearl as an excuse, to try and shift some of the focus off themselves. Yes, I believe that it is high time that Pearl is exposed completely (not just able to hide out in his comfortable nook with his supporters). His lies need to be exposed (please.. . . . .can you name all those "millions" of people he has helped? how about those that "failed"? let's shed some reality light on this, ok?). I tend to agree with dh that there is a *whole* lot more to this story. But, I also hope that the light will hit him and his cohorts and that all will be revealed.

Re: So what are Pearl followings saying about the Schatz case?
(I know I'm just jumping in as a newbie. I don't really know what else to do but just leap into the middle of the pool. Hi, everyone!)
I've had a few conversations, mostly off line, with people that follow NGJ or teachings along those lines and that is exactly what I'm getting. SortaCrunchy, I remember, comments on your blog along the same lines. Even though the parents will ultimately be held responsible for their actions (as well they should), I'm amazed more people aren't connecting the dots on this back to the source of the Pearls. If I hear the phrase "Well, don't toss the baby out with the bathwater..." about this, I may have a bit of a fit. *sigh* |

Re: So what are Pearl followings saying about the Schatz case?
In August of 1998, Michael Pearl wrote and article called "The Angry Child". One quote in this article was something to the effect of "A proper spanking leaves the child without the breath to complain"
Pearl thinks he is infallable. Nothing is his fault. |
