That processing time is so good for kids and necessary. How many times as adults do we just "jump to it" and follow a command immediately???

With the nursing, something I used to do with dd1 was to say "one more minute, then you're all done nursing." Then when a minute (ok, I would cheat and really do like 30 seconds) was over, I would put my finger gently in her mouth to help her unlatch. I totally understand being touched out! This way, I never *told* her to do anything so she didn't have a chance to obey or not. That way I couldn't get mad about her not obeying when I was already seriously on edge. I just gave her a warning that she was almost done, then made it happen.
