Rat nest in the grill!!
Oh My Goodness!!!!!!!
So we use the grill at least once a week. But this time, when DH went to go light it, fortunately he decided to open it up before he just set it aflame. Well, peeking up at him was a I'm so disgusted, I don't know what to do! DH, being a man, wants to just flame it and call it good. I, otoh, want to burn the entire grill and buy a new one! wwyd??? We just went back outside to look at it, and it was not a mouse at all! It was a RAT! This is just too disgusting!!

Re: Rat nest in the grill!!
Well, heat will sterilize it. I recommend a high heat for a good long time. Let it cool, scrub it well and then high heat again for good measure. The first heat is optional, you can just scrub it first and then sterilize it.

Re: Rat nest in the grill!!
I've searched on some grill forums. They say to take the thing apart and bleach it all. I'm just not doing that. I can't be around bleach! Even if DH did that, I *still* don't think I could eat off of the grill.
DH went to go clean out the nest, and I asked him not to until I'd researched it. Even breathing in the dust from the nest can cause problems (some virus.)

Re: Rat nest in the grill!!
I'd probably throw the whole thing and start over. And maybe cleanse the spot where it has been with fire
I could not make my self eat food of it, or feed it to my children |

Re: Rat nest in the grill!!
That is crazy nasty. Disinfecting an entire grill sounds exhausting!
If your grill is an expensive one, and you can afford it, I'd simply replace it. There are some decent ones for fairly cheap.

I can't reply to your thread bc I am going to pretend I never clicked on it and read it.
IF I have to think about it and comment Earthmummy clearly has the best suggestion.

Re: Rat nest in the grill!!
This grill was a Walmart special, so it wasn't terribly expensive. I've been wanting a Traeger for years now, and maybe this is the right time!!

Happened to us. I assume you mean a bbq? We got rid of it. No question about it here.
