My friend, whose daughter has a severe peanut allergy, goes through a thorough process when they fly. There is thorough wiping down of everything washable (tray, window, armrests, etc.) and then she lays down towels for her DD to sit on. It's a terrible thing that she must go through, but I'd say go ahead and bring the peanuts. That mom (and others like her) are going to have to do all of that anyway. They can't take the chance/trust that there aren't peanuts where there child is about to sit.

It's fine. A few times when I have been on a flight there has been an announcement to please keep peanut items packed away for the duration of the flight. So that's probably the worst thing that could happen. And that's happened once or twice for the dozens of times I have flown.

I never even considered peanuts as a potential problem on an airline flight! I took a plane this weekend, and when they passed around a tray of snacks, I looked at all the chips and granola bars and asked, "don't you have any peanuts?" and the stewardess showed me that they did, underneath the bags of chips.

Maybe they make that announcement when there's somebody on board who is allergic?
