We shared a wall with a smoker at our first home. It is a huge part of why we wanted a detached home when bought this past time. It feels so wrong when other people's poor health choices affect you so directly.

That's terrible the smoke is coming in. The lawyer in me thinks that it might even be trespass... Pollution from her property getting into yours. But the reason I gave up my job is partly that that sort of information is pretty useless in real life. Can you get a survey done of your house by professionals?

Oh how disgusting!!

Cig. smoke now gives me a headache and then a migraine.

I'd say move, if that is not an option then get another one of those filter things that you brought up from your basement.

And yes, call dry wall specialists or contractors to get ideas of what can be done.

I'd say talk to her, but she is smoking inside her own home, it's not like she's going to stop. So there's really nothing to ask her to do. Pray she moves?

Still haven't heard back about a quote but I do pray she moves eventually.

Things do seem to be evening out for her a bit. But there for a while it was *rough*. She is nice, if not troubled. So far the ionizer thing seems to be working well!

When my youngest lived in an apt, the next door neighbor that shared a wall smoked like a chimney. We found 1 source of the smell getting in was the electrical outlets on the shared wall. We went and got insulated cover plates and we used baby plugs to keep the holes covered. It helped 'some'.
