Share your housekeeping schedule
Monday-- sweep, vacuum, dust first floor common areas. Laundry for myself, dh, and youngest. Change my bedding (every other week). Launder towels.
Tuesday-- Sweep and mop first floor. Laundry for second youngest. Charge his bedding (every other week). Wednesday. Clean vertical surfaces: front and back entries every week (lots of glass). Outside of fridge, microwave, dishwasher, and oven every week. I rotate though other vertical surfaces-- kitchen cupboards, walls, bathroom cupboards, etc. Next child's laundry and bedding. Thursday-- dust, sweep, vacuum bedrooms. Laundry for last two kids. Friday-- bathrooms (we have 4 ). I clean the inside of the fridge and pantry as needed but I want to get it on a schedule. I also want a schedule for emptying out big freezers. ETA every day we do dishes, sweep kitchen, clean all horizontal kitchen surfaces, and pick up objects. Re: Share your housekeeping schedule
I don't have it all bc I use that app that was well discussed in the other thread.
but using your list: Daily sweeping (dc do that chore, alternate by month. So in December ds sweeps downstairs every day.) Vacuum, mopping and dusting are set at intervals and done when they come up on the app. Every few days for the first 2 and dusting I probably have set every couple of weeks? Laundry I do around practice and sports schedules. So both dc have practice on Tuesday and Wednesday so I will do laundry after that to keep it up. All that other stuff is schedule through the app. Overdue by 1 day is pick up dog poop, clean kit sink, dust bedrooms, Due today: mop downstairs, sweep floor, glass clean front room Sometimes things will slowly go overdue and then I do a catch up on Saturday. Thats why you dont see a lot overdue today. Friday may be longer. And we will knock out a lot of that today. Saturday - change bed linens/wash - me. Dh does the 3 bathrooms this day too.

Re: Share your housekeeping schedule
One of my biggest goals in redoing my schedule was to give myself a weekend. No cleaning or laundry on weekends except for incidentals. I sometimes do catch-up during the week but if something big cones up unexpectedly, I let that day's work go until next week. Missing a week of mopping won't hurt, etc. If I know something is coming up, I spread that days work out to other days. I assign bigger jobs to days where I have the most time. When ski season gets into full swing, I will have to combine Friday's chores with Wednesday's or Thursday's. Once I start doing bathrooms I like to get them all done so I probably won't split them.
With my kids' laundry, I don't give them a choice anymore. They have to do their laundry on their assigned day. They have 24 hours to get their laundry put away or I put it into donation bags. They were letting their laundry go until it was ridiculous and overwhelming. They couldn't handle putting that much laundry away and it sat and sat. We vacuum the living room more than once a week but Monday is the day for a really thorough job. |

Re: Share your housekeeping schedule
Now that we're in ski season, bathrooms have been moved to Thursdays. Dusting bedrooms is moved to Mondays. Oldest does her laundry on the weekend. (We are gone all day on Fridays.)

Re: Share your housekeeping schedule
I used to have a schedule but got away from it. Now I just do things as I see the need, but I like the idea of getting back on a schedule.

I have a few things I do on the same day every week. Tuesday’s or wednesdays I clean the fridge out and wipe down the shelves if I see messes. DH shop’s Wednesday’s. I’d also like to start deep cleaning now and skip Spring cleaning. We’ve only been in our house 3 months so if I start in the next few weeks can dee clean 3/yr..... I’d like to Implement that into my regular schedule like “wipe down kitchen cabinets 1/month after wiping down fridge.

Re: Share your housekeeping schedule
Switching to a schedule has been life changing for me. I only skimmed it because my eldest snatched it and read it (which was totally fine, she needs the details and the why much more than I do) but I got The Lazy Genius Way from the library. By Kendra Hidachi. The main take away--
Make fewer decisions and make those decisions go farther. When I was cleaning as I saw the need, I was in a constant state of decision making. So much grey area. This way, I made the decisions, they're done. No more brain space. Should I mop? Simple decision. Is it Tuesday? Then I mop. Is it not Tuesday? Then I don't mop. Did Tuesday go by with some kind of out of the ordinary crazy happenings and I didn't mop? That's okay. Tuesday comes every week. If I find myself not mopping lots of Tuesdays then I go back and analyze what's getting in the way. Maybe I need to change the schedule. Maybe I need a new mop. |
