Favorite multi vit? What about cal/mag?
It's time to order vitamins/supplements. I'm trying to find a good brand that's not terribly expensive since I don't have a lot to spend. Also suggestions for a basic daily regimen would be appreciated!
So far, I'm looking at a Multi, B-Complex, Cal/Mag, homemade Elderberry Syrup, C, D3, and possibly Chlorella. Can any of these be taken combined so I have fewer bottles to work with? I'd prefer liquids, as much as possible, or gel caps or some other more bioavailable form. I've been using Isotonix but it's expensive. I'd like to be able to get my supplements through someplace like Vita Cost or Puritan's Pride. My other question is, my DS is 11 months old and breastfeeding. Should I be giving him anything, or does he get what he needs from my milk?

I take (when I remember... ) a multi/prenatal, B-Complex, Cal/Mag, C, D3 and Fish Oils Daily.
Id take teh Elderberry as needed for colds, etc. Your baby does not need anything at this point. I don't start giving vit's until they wean or start getting most nutrition from solids. Hence, less breastmilk.

Re: Favorite multi vit? What about cal/mag?
I'm taking:
A multi vitamin & mineral that has 5,000 IUs of vit D Extra D (I'm really low) Krill oil w/ evening primrose oil (Omega 3) Chlorella Spirulina Natural Calm (magnesium) a few times a week Fermented clo and butter oil once in awhile Food-grade diatomaceous earth when I remember I drink a lot of raw milk and eat a lot of cheese so I don't take any extra calcium. The only things I give my nursling under a year are diatomaceous earth and vit d. Most breastfed babies are deficient in d. Brands: Mercola's Whole Food Plus Vital Minerals Multivitamin. (They're expensive, tho) Mercola's chlorella (comparable in price to other brands.). Source Naturals also makes a good chlorella. Mercola's Krill Oil for Women Green Pastures Blue Ice fermented cod liver oil Natural Calm magnesium supplement DE is from Earth Works Health. Spirulina is NSI brand. I haven't researched it much, though. NSI makes vit d drops that are a super bargain. Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: Favorite multi vit? What about cal/mag?
1.we take diatomaceous earth, same brand as mentioned above-as needed
2.fish oil once the tans start fading(we live north), depends on whats available-carlsons, NutraSea, natures way 3.North american Oregano oil-as needed 4.Calcium bentonite clay-as needed We dont use multivitamins anylonger. We get the minerals from the de and clay. which also allows us to absorb more nutrients from the whole foods we eat. Grass fed and organic whenever possible. That alone the kids havent had to go to the doctor since. They go for the yearly look at me but thats it, been around 4 years now |

Whatever Mag you get, make sure it's not magnesium oxide. That stuff's worthless.

Re: Favorite multi vit? What about cal/mag?
I take Juice Plus+ (a whole food supplement - see my siggy), Twin Labs Stress-B Complex (from Vitacost), and a good quality omega complex.
My kiddos started taking the Juice Plus+ chewables when they were chewing solid foods (DS was around 9 months old). I also started giving DS fish oil when he was a year old (it helps calm him). But I think that if you're BFing, your kiddo is probably doing just fine (especially if you're getting good nutrition yourself).
