Default I'm getting a new top loader!!(update: no I'm not)

My front loader is broken (aww, I'm so sad.... NOT!), it won't finish draining.

I've spent $35 at the laundromat the past week and dh wanted to get a repairman out but the service call is $75, so right there is 1/4 of a new washer.

I found a 3.9 cubic GE one on the Lowes website. That is big for a top loader!

Anything else? Don't tell me to get a HE top loader , I am so done with HE and smelly towels and clothes!

Well, Hmm. that last sentence has me as I have an HE top loader and my clothes are never stinky.

I was going to tell you to watch HE top loaders, though, as it's been suggested to us (and we HAVE had this problem twice with ours) that the bearings go bad in them often.

Now I want to to see what you get!

My HE front loader is 4 1/2 yrs old and I dealt with smelly diapers a year into it. Done with diapers but now I deal with smelly towels.

Found www.technofresh.net and fixed it two months ago now the towels are so smelly as soon as they get wet when I dry off.

I don't want to fix it, I want a regular old top loader. I save preshower water, recycle everything, I"m okay with using all that water to have CLEAN towels!

Now I want to know if 3.6 is that much different than 3.4 cubic ft. or 3.9. Can't find what my front loader is and my mom couldn't find what her top loader size is.

Well, we went to Lowe's and Sears tonight. I hate the sales people at Sears, he had me more confused. I knew what I wanted! Then he explains how an HE top loader works. I wanted the floor model they had on clearance for $382 (regular top loader).

DH kinda' wanted me to get the HE. So I said I'd have to research them more before buying one.

We came home and dh tried one more time to look at our washer. And darn he fixed it! He found a drain thing to unscrew in the front that was filled with lint, crayons, change, a hair band, bracelet, side piece of plastic sunglasses. Gross, gross, gross!! I can't believe all those things could get through! There's where most of the smell was coming from.

Money wise I'm happy, but otherwise I'm bummed that he fixed it. Smart guy though, the book says nothing about that drain cover.

So, no new washer for me.

I was gonna suggest that screw on the front

I use a vinegar rinse and EO in with my detergent to avoid the smelly clothes issue.

The stupid thing is that there is nothing in the manual about that trap!

EO= essential oil?

I used to do a vinegar rinse. It didn't work.

I did a super shock today and will use Technofresh everyday for a week. That and now that the trap is emptied, we'll see if my towels smell normal in two months.

Yes, essential oil.

I know bleach is icky but do you do the bleach/clean washer cycle now and then? I think that is important.

No, I hate bleach!

Well, I did just do two clean washer cycles with it once dh fixed it. It had been sitting with water in it for two weeks.

Then I washed some then got to the store for two gallons of vinegar to do the super shock.
