Why no metal with "Amish" Friendship Bread?
I was given a starter for "Amish" friendship bread (10 days ago - today is baking day). I was wondering why can I not use any metal, which for me meant "eyeballing" it on several things b/c all my measuring spoons are metal and only have one measuring cup. This also meant no mixer and the batter was kind of lumpy.
So is there a reason or can I actually use my measuring cups and spoons |

Re: Why no metal with "Amish" Friendship Bread?
Your measuring cups and spoons should be fine since they aren't actually in contact with the batter. It's like sourdough - the acids and metals don't mix. Brief contact shouldn't do too much harm though.
