If you love your flats (diapers)
...tell me why.
How are they on sizing? Would I just have to get flats and that'd be it until she potty learns? Last edited by Eowyn; 03-05-2012 at 07:40 PM. |

Re: If you love your flats
I loved them until baby was super mobile (7mo?) So trim. I plan on using them again for next babe.

Re: If you love your flats (diapers)
My mom only used flats. I remember diaper changes on my youngest brother being quire intense once he could move. Very versatile though and the diapers that were purchased at birth went all the way to potty learning, except the covers.

Re: If you love your flats (diapers)
I love them. Incredibly versatile. Once you get good at folding, they're no more work to change than a prefold. I love that I can add absorbency where needed. I love that they're trim. But the thing that I love the absolute most is that I know every layer gets super clean (because every layer is exposed) and they dry super super super quickly on the line.

Re: If you love your flats (diapers)
It's been a while and I never used them exclusively but they washed so well and dried very quickly. I usually just folded them in an appropriately sized rectangle and used a snug velcro cover to hold them on the same way you would with a tri-folded prefold, though they do pin on nicely too. Garage sale flannel receiving blankets make nice, cheap, absorbent flats.
Is it weird that I miss cloth diapering?

Yes! Meant to mention, I used mainly flannel rcvg blankets. Way cheap!

Re: If you love your flats (diapers)
I love love love flats. They're trim and versatile and one size fits all (though mine were bulkier on my newb) and they wash and dry so nice. They can take a beating in my diaper eating machine aka washer.

Re: If you love your flats (diapers)
After almost 3 years I am packing up my flats to be put away until we have another baby. One size all the way through from when Early Bird was still in the NICU, util two weeks ago when at almost 3 she decided she didn't need them.

Re: If you love your flats (diapers)
We're on our third size of prefolds already (she's 17 pounds!), and I'm hoping to find one thing and stick with it.

Re: If you love your flats (diapers)
I liked them enough that I bought a case to sell.
I did have a little more trouble pinning them snuggly than I expected, so I generally used them under a cover. I also liked them inside pocket diapers. At one point I bought a pattern to make one size pocket diapers with a natural inner layer, and then was going to stuff them with the flats. I only got one of those pockets actually sewn...but I did like them in the pockets I bought. The ability to wash and dry them quickly was the biggest factor for me. I hate the thought of too many layers (prefolds, all in ones, etc.) holding onto germs in the middle. I hated having to run the prefolds through the dryer a second time to get them dry. I liked being able to pull the flats out of the dryer on the first go around.

Love 'em. If you search for "I <3 flats" I think it is, or threads started by me, there's a whole slew of people who love flats too
