Re: Walmart Discipline Experience.
I have a big lump in my throat. What a great thing to witness. Example is so powerful. Maybe it will help these parents to rethink their strategies. I know for me, when we went to a weekly playgroup with other non-punitive parents, it was so much easier to GBD. THanks for the reminder about predator posture. Sadly, even though I never hit my kids, I do recognize that behavior in myself sometimes, and it scares me, so I can only imagine what it does to my kids. It is a hard, hard pattern to break out of. I needed to read this today. |

Bless her for stepping in and being so caring. I don't know if I could have done it.

Re: Walmart Discipline Experience.
Do you think certain people just have a gift and can sense what exactly is needed? I mean, I can know intellectual what might work but especially when it's not my child I have this fear that what I'm going to do (especially when it's a stranger situation like this one) is going to make it worse. Or maybe I'm just afraid of trying and failing and being embarrassed. |
