Allergies?!
Backstory... I have a rash that has come and gone since I was in 7th grade. No one has ever been able to tell me what it is... anti fungal will get rid of it if I use it religiously. Hydrocortisone will get rid of it if I use it religiously. Vinegar also. But needless to say I never remember to continue doing it when the rash goes away or fades. And even when the rash itself goes away it still itches.
I also have had a cough for almost a month now that came during a virus and just hasn't gone away... Also, this virus started with joint pain randomly throughout my body. Now... at my MW visit last week, she suggested that I take zyrtec daily to see if it would help with my cough. She said that it is possible that the virus lowered my ability to fight away seasonal allergens and thus led to the cough continuing. Fast forward to yesterday, DH finally got the zyrtec for me (I try to avoid going to stores ) so I took my first dose last night before bed. I barely coughed at all! YAY! Even more surprising, the itching is not AS bad, still there, but not as bad... and the rash has faded a little bit. Also, my joints still hurt, but not so much that it interferes with my daily life! I can get up from sitting on the floor without help! So now, I'm wondering if I have a food allergy and have had one all these years and the pregnancy itself just exacerbated all these symptoms. I'm going to give the zyrtec a few more days to see if the itching/rash/joint pain goes away... if it does I'm going to call my doc and see if they can get allergy tests run. I'm just not up for an elimination diet right now to figure it out. |

Re: Allergies?!
How is it now? That would be so great to finally figure it out and be able to do something about it!

Re: Allergies?!
The cough is completely gone (immediately like 30 minutes after I took the first dose) the weird joint pain I had is gone, and now just the normal joint pain I regularly have. The itching and rash have lessened, but aren't gone.
So next week I'm going to call my doc and ask if I can have blood drawn for allergy testing when two of mine go in for their check ups. I could stay on the zyrtec long term, but I suppose (pouting here totally) that it's better for me to avoid whatever it might be if possible. |
