Default Don't you wish you could give out carriers?

Ds and I were running errands today. We were walking between stores, and I had him in the Ergo. Hands free, he was happy. We passed a woman walking by with her about one year old child asleep, slung over her shoulder. She looked at me and said, "I need one of those!" "Yes you do!" I told her laughing.

Moments like that when you wish you just had a stash of carriers to pass out to all the moms, you know? She probably would have really used it, and definitely looked like it could have helped her out! babywearing!

I'd love to be able to do that too! I can't wait to wrap baby girl up in her Moby. I want to practice but my bump is too big and solid!

i sort of do this i make wraps, mostly moby type because it is one of the easier learn ones, and give them to pretty much any pregnant woman i know as a shower gift or just a gift if i dont' know them well enough. i even gave a woman who was visiting our church once a wrap i was actually wearing she seemed all interested in it and had a high needs baby (like i did at the time!) so i just unwrapped my baby girl and wrapped hers up on her -that totally isn't weird right?

I gave my hooter hider to a mom sitting by me once. We were at a pumpkin patch and her baby was so teeeeeny and precious. Mine was getting big enough that we really didn't NIP much anymore. I don't think everyone should use one, but my kid was a big fan of popping off and leaving me hanging out, and the lady told me she wished she had one like mine.

So nope, you aren't weird. Or we both are.

Love these stories! I'm sure it meant so much to these mamas! It would be pretty amazing to be a carrier angel! I've seen more than one mama who looks like she could use a good carrier!!

Yes! At the park the other day, a woman was lamenting that she couldn't afford a carrier. I have some left over stock from when I was selling them, and I kept going down in price. I finally told her I'd just sell it to her for what I paid wholesale, because I totally understand being in the position of not being able to afford one and I just want to see people wearing their babies. I wish I could just give them all away, but it would be hundreds of dollars lost.

I'm actually buying table clothes and rings. I'm gonna learn how to make them to give them away. A handsewn ring sling saved my relationship with DS1. I used it all the time.

I'm so glad I received one as a baby shower gift. I try to pick them up when I see them at good prices at swaps or consignment stores so I can give them to friends. I almost cried when I gave my mei tai to SIL when her baby was born. I'm so glad she used it though...worth it.

We'll hopefully have another baby, so I'm not getting rid of any carriers yet. But the thought has crossed my mind, that maybe someday I should give my carriers to moms who need them. But oh my, I don't know how I could ever do that! I have so many memories of ds in each carrier at different stages. Good for you for giving away your MT though! And the good thing is that you'll still see it, but with your niece/nephew in it!

I wish I could! I have let moms borrow mine when I didn't have a baby using one. I made a mei tai for my sister but her baby hated it. I know someone who I really wish would use a carrier but her baby just hangs out in a car seat or swing all the time.

I've given away a few diy carriers. Of course, it usually happens that when I see someone who needs one, I don't have one on me.

YES!!! I've been in New Orleans the past few days. And the amount of improperly-worn and uncomfortable-looking Baby Bjorns makes me want to give everyone a *good* carrier!!!
