The slices of ginger on top didn't really make the chicken gingery, and the flavor was only skin-deep instead of really permeating the chicken. Although to be fair, we subbed coconut aminos for the soy sauce, we used frozen concentrate OJ instead of fresh squeezed, frozen ginger instead of fresh and subbed tapioca starch for cornstarch. I think DH played with the seasonings a little too.

It's hardly the same recipe anymore, is it?

Also, the sauce didn't thicken up as much as I thought it should. Maybe my chicken was super-juicy or maybe because I subbed the starch?
