Attempting Tatting
I inherited 2 loaded tatting shuttles a long time ago. So I am trying it out.
Any good tutorials?

Re: Attempting Tatting
I'm excited to see this thread. I really do want to take up shuttle tatting, as it is a family tradition, lost by two generations. My great grandmother had only a single son, and my mom is useless with needlecraft like that. I was too young when she died to understand that I could have asked her to teach me.

Re: Attempting Tatting
I have been trying to get shuttle tatting for awhile, but it isn't a one-handed craft for sure. I bought the Crafty class when it was half-off, but I think this one is as good tatted treasures (maybe better).
I have one more Halloween costume to make and then I plan on working more on my tatting, so far, I've just done some simple butterflies and flowers and just practiced my chains and rings. I love how inexpensive it is (comparatively speaking anyways-I am currently having to put my knitting on hold until after Christmas when I can buy more yarn and new needle set).

Re: Attempting Tatting
I learned out of some old library books. I have always been suprised to find tatting books at every library system I have lived.

Re: Attempting Tatting
The subject is fresh on my mind because on Saturday, DH's cousin told DH at their grandma's birthday party that it's his latest adventure. I thought "maybe this is more common than I thought." She's a nurse, nurses use needles...
