Guinea pigs
Anybody else have them?? I got the first one free in a little fish tank, poor baby! from some people who didn't want him anymore. The second one we brought home 2 weeks later also from someone who didn't want her. Seeing as how these two were now make and female and I wasn't sure we needed umpteen juniors running around, I found a little girl baby guinea pig and brought her home. The big girl didn't like her. So the big pair moved to grandma's since she was wanting some piggies too and we brought home another little girl who is now besties with the first baby girl. We named them Heidi and Kandi. The big pair were Mr. Bubbles and Tiger Lily. Well, last week the biggies escaped at the farm and we were only able to locate and recapture Mr. Bubbles. The dog, Sadie, found Tiger Lily dead and was most sad about it. She cried as dogs do and kept licking the dead piggy. After my brother buried Tiger Lily, Sadie sat on her grave and wouldn't move for most of the day. Yesterday we brought Mr. Bubbles back home because he's lonely without his friend. I'll try to add some cute pictures soon!

Re: Guinea pigs
A fish tank!
I'm glad they ended up in your hands. I enjoyed our two guinea pigs until we gave them up to a nice family back in May. I developed an allergy to their hay. I miss them sometimes. for pics! |

Don't mind my faces. They usually don't mean anything.

Re: Guinea pigs
We had some when we also had teenagers. Prior to the piggies we had mini hamsters.(that could make a thread of it's own ) The piggies seems big after that. We had them for a few years before they became ill and dies. They were good pets, relatively low maintenance and fun, but we didn't get more because of the short life span.

Re: Guinea pigs
They seem to be hugely popular in Australia and UK. People have whole rooms in their "flats" dedicated to their piggies! Anyway. Let me see what I can find for pictures.

Re: Guinea pigs
We have 2 in a home made c&c cage. I had them as a kid from the age of 10 until I got married, and then we got some this year. They are definitely loud
