I've never quilted but have seen a few things. My mom used to tell me it was as simple as just collecting scrap fabric and sewing it together. Are there easy quilt pattern sites I can use out there?

There are lots of easy quilts out there. I really love the quilting classes on creative bug, and it is relatively inexpensive. (I think they offer a 14-day free trial.)

This was the first quilt I made, and it was super easy: http://www.polkadotchair.com/2010/08...-tutorial.html

No. It was super easy. I've now made 2, and I also made one from creative bug.

Look at missouri star quilt company's you tube videos. She makes the process so much easier.

Punkie, those are adorable! I have some quilt squares from a swap several years ago that I couldn't figure out what to do with. I think this is what I will do. Thanks for sharing.

I don't quilt, but this article about hand quilting from Mother Earth News popped up on my fb feed today. It was interesting.

I love the hexes in the pic! I am working on an English Paper Piecing hex quilt, and it is SO fun. This was my first hex flower, and now I'm working on my second. They go really fast.

I also agree with their whole cloth quilt suggestion. Again, creative bug has a class on it that is awesome. I'm following their tutorial with this one:

So cool! I just finished making my 3rd cloth pad stash. Have a stack of scrap fabric I need to measure to see if I can get 6.5 x 9.5 out of each of them and also resisting the urge to run out and get more. Haha!

I love this thread! Thank you! I made a quilt top for my daughter with leftover fabric from the nursery, so I "graduated" her room when she got a big-girl (twin) bed. Instead of quilting the top to a backing, I sewed it to a twin sheet, like a giant pillowcase, and put a plain white twin comforter inside of it. I stitched up the top and bottom edges so it wouldn't shift around inside. It made a beautiful comforter that has held up well!

I haven't made anything since this, though. That was 3-4 years ago. Ready to get back into it!
