Clothes from one material?
Where do Today observant women buy clothes? Is there a website? I googled and found one with middle eastern garb. I was hoping for something more American looking.

Re: Clothes from one material?
Although I do not know what Today observant means, there are a few organic clothing companies that use only one fiber in some of their garments. My favorite organic clothes used to be Synergy, Prana and Pact organic which have all cotton dresses, but their leggings have other materials so that might not work. There way out of my budget now that I'm a single mom.

Torah Observant?
My dd wears all kinds of beautiful things to congregation. A lot of maxi skirts and regular tops but with those kimono type jackets over. She has a very ethnic Indies style tho ---------- Post added at 01:43 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:38 PM ---------- You could find a really cute jacket you like - like a denim kind - and pair up with a dress or skirt and top and any cute hat

Re: Clothes from one material?
If you mean Torah observant, can you explain what the Torah says about clothing fabrics?

Re: Clothes from one material?
Yes I wasnt aware had to be certain fabric?
---------- Post added at 02:41 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:28 PM ---------- My YAs attend a Messianic Torah observant congregation and my dds good friend is married to the son of a Messianic Rabbi and their are young stylish YAs in both congregations. The girls tend to wear longer flowy dresses or skirts with a jacket or a kimono type jacket over short sleeves or sleeveless because we live in the south and then those boot type shoes. They do not cover entire hair and head tho

I thought it was only linen and wool that couldn't be mixed?
Jeans can still be found as 100%coton as can butter on ups and t shirts. Both my shirts today are cotton. One is from bass and the other Walmart. Turns out my shorts are. Otton too also from Walmart. |

Re: Clothes from one material?
I don't live a Torah observant lifestyle but I do hold it as an ideal to aspire to so I was kind of hoping to just chip away at it a little at a time. The two verses regarding clothing that I was referencing are:
Leviticus 19:19 says, “Keep my decrees. Do not mate different kinds of animals. Do not plant your field with two kinds of seed. Do not wear clothing woven of two kinds of material.” And Deuteronomy 22:9–11 commands, “Do not plant two kinds of seed in your vineyard; if you do, not only the crops you plant but also the fruit of the vineyard will be defiled. Do not plow with an ox and a donkey yoked together. Do not wear clothes of wool and linen woven together.”

Re: Clothes from one material?
Yes, this applies to wool and linen / wool and cotton only.
There are Orthodox websites to order clothes if one wants to, but they generally don't go above a size 12US which counts me out entirely. I just avoid anything wool. |
