The cheeky little...
Yesterday Ata had a book which Ketia then decided she wanted. So I stood her infront of me and she started hitting and throwing toys, I held her arms so she couldn't knock my glasses off (again) and I start saying "you want to look at the book..." the next thing she goes completely limp, closes her eyes and starts to snore!!!! I try to stand her up but her whole body is floppy, even her head was floppy, and she's snoring the whole time!! I couldn't believe it! So I try to "teach" her what I was going to say over the top of the fake snoring and she starts to laugh and I say "you can laugh when I'm finished" she then does the snoring thing again. I was torn between wetting myself laughing and screaming! I ended up laughing which probably didn't teach her anything. She's 2.5!!!!!

Re: The cheeky little...
*groan* DS just turned two and this is his favorite thing to do. ANY time I ask him to do something he doesn't want to do, or try to discipline him he does the limp snoring thing. ANywhere we are. He will lay down in the middle of the sidewalk (my neighbors think it's hilarious!) or the stairs and just snore away. It *is* funny but very frustrating. I dunno what to do about it...

Re: The cheeky little...
she's introducing you to the benefit of playful parenting
It drives me crazy when my kids do this when I'm upset but when I retell it later I crack up

Re: The cheeky little...
My ds does this too.
His is (usually) accompanied by a smile, and saying 'I can't do XYZ, I'm sleeping' (in between the snores). ANNOYING!!!! but, yeah, we usually go to ''playful parenting" to get him out of it. "Oh, Beni's sleeping. I'll carry him to his bed so he's more comfortable" - while picking him up and carrying him to his bed. This usually 'wakes him up', we giggle, and THEN go back to the thing he didn't want to be compliant about. |
