Unprepared for Parenting (Ezzos, Pearls, Etc.) *Public*Support and information for those affected by the Ezzos, the Pearls, and other punitive and adversarial methods of child-rearing. A public forum. Before posting here, please read this sticky and keep guideline 23 in mind:
23. No posts harshly dissecting parenting moments of others since we desire to humbly cultivate a heart attitude of grace and not judgment towards other mamas. We all struggle at times as parents and have much to learn, and GCM's focus is to provide tools and information for each of us to parent more effectively. Posts voicing some frustration regarding choices made by others can be okay, but it needs to be within the overall context of seeking understanding or ideas for better responses in the future.
Re: Created To Be His Help Meet by Debi Pearl *graphic content*
I started reading the book out of curiosity and there are several things right away that bother me. Debi Pearl states in chapter one that a man attains Gods favor by getting a good wife, that this is how God created us and it is our purpose for existing, that is it Gods will that a woman be a suitable helper to their husbands, that when you obey your husband you obey God and that men are created to be a helper of God. She seems to be putting the husband as the mediator between the wife and God instead of Christ being that mediator. Some how the idea of existing for the purpose of man while the husband exists to be a helper to God comes across like women were an after thought, and of less value than man, which is not supported by scripture. We are all of equal value in Gods sight, Christ died for us all equally. I just have a real problem with her theology.
