Nutritional Yeast?
Can you eat too much of it? My almost 8 year old loves it...and I just found out she's been eating a lot of it when she fixes a snack...way more than a serving of it. She opens a can of peas, heats them, drains them and then dumps on the nutritional yeast. I like the stuff, but not enough to dump a little more onto the plate and lick it off with my fingers!

Re: Nutritional Yeast?
That's good to know! My dh asked if she could get too many b vitamins that way. I have no idea and I wasn't in the mood to google it and risk freaking myself out over it. Tonight she dumped tons of it on her spaghetti..then wanted more just noodles...and dumped more NY on that and ate it that way.

Re: Nutritional Yeast?
Shouldn't be a problem. B vitamins are water-soluble, so she should just pee them out (in fact if you happen to see her pee after eating a bunch of it, it will probably be bright yellow- mine is ) It is very hard to get a toxicity from b vitamins, even from a lot of nutritional yeast.

That's good to know! She'll be happy to hear that. I'll have to tell her to see if her pee is bright yellow. She lets me know how poop looks after eating a lot of guacamole.

Re: Nutritional Yeast?
Well then I guess she won't be embarrassed if you bring that up.

Re: Nutritional Yeast?
Does anyone know, does it increase your risk of candida infections or is it somehow devitalized?

Re: Nutritional Yeast?
It is deactivated, but I know some don't recommend it if you already have systemic yeast issues. It shouldn't cause a problem, though.
