Anybody keep a small pool without chlorine?
Title pretty much says it all. We're being given a ten foot diameter pool, and are trying to figure out how to take care of it.

Re: Anybody keep a small pool without chlorine?
we sort of do.
the set up is expensive...you would need a sand filter and a saltwater system. We at this point only have a sand filter. I think it was about 150 dollars. We use minimal chlorine. Really, not much at all. The sand filters the water beautifully. I don't know if we will splurge this year and get the saltwater filter as well..we have some other expenses coming up this summer. We got ours off of amazon. |

Re: Anybody keep a small pool without chlorine?
My parents used a chlorine alternative.....lemme see if I can find the name....
Ok I think it was baquacil? But it looks like there are a lot of chlorine free options now. We did have a filter on it - came with the pool - but nothing special. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I know several people who use baquacil. I think Wal-Mart carries it now and the prices have gone down a lot.
Do not use any bromide products, they're just as bad as chlorine. Some salt systems are simply chlorine generators. |

Isn't there a way to use baking soda?

Re: Anybody keep a small pool without chlorine?
From a chemist point of view, iodine would be the ideal replacement for chlorine/bromine but I don't know the cost. Probably pricey so the sand, salt, baking soda ideas are great.

Re: Anybody keep a small pool without chlorine?
We used baquacil for years when we had a small pool. It's chlorine and bromine free.
