Re: She bites and pinches
How old is she? Most of the time, I give my kids something TO bite that is appropriate like a chewy Q or another teething toy. Then I remind them that biting (or pinching) hurts! If the pinching is aimed at me, I put them down until they can stop pinching me (and then, of course, give them something to knead with their fingers like Play-doh). Keep redirecting her to things that are appropriate and eventually it'll pass. At least it's comforting to know that it's pretty age appropriate and she's not the first baby to bite or pinch.

Re: She bites and pinches
Does she have a warning look? My oldest used to do that, but he generally had a "look" he got on his face that gave me the warning that he was thinking about biting and I could redirect him fast. Otherwise with other babies a quick, 'Oh ouchies! Biting hurts! Look, the poor baby is sad now, we need to give her kisses to help her feel better" while removing my baby and offering comforting gestures towards the other one reinforced that biting is NOT how we interact with others. Usually though, redirection and prevention is the best way I've found to work through a biting stage. I used lots of practicing with hand over hand instruction, "Oh you want to say hello to the baby? Yes she's a nice baby! Let's use gentle hands to say hello! Nice, gentle hands, hurray!!! Good job sweetie!" and then redirect the attention fast
Hyland's teething tablets were a life saver for me; so that might be one to add to Lexi's suggestion for appropriate things TO bite and pinch.

Re: She bites and pinches
look at your avi! Sorry to go OT. (Hey, she's my cousin, I can gush!)
Another thing I thought of- when interacting with other babies show her how to play, how to interact. She wants to play with them, she doesn't know how so she bites. It definitely gets a reaction. So be proactive, as soon as you are with another baby before she can hug and bite show her some ways to play together. I'd definitely stop the hello hugs for now. |

Re: She bites and pinches
When my son was this age, he often had a 'chew cloth' around somewhere. Just a wet washcloth, but he would bite on that and get some of that chewing need taken care of. If you have something for her to bite on, then you can start telling her 'x is for biting, not mommy' and see if she transitions.

Re: She bites and pinches
I found an old thread with a post about "kisses don't have teeth" that might help since we talked about it today.
