Think Dd might have mumps or??

She has:
headache
swollen glands
fever
sore throat
low energy/appetite
funny tongue

I can't see any white spots on her throat..

any other ideas???

mono maybe? that's the only thing i can think of. I had it once and my neck swelled up like a bullfrog...

It could be mono. Whatever she has it sounds yucky. I hope you can figure this out and that she gets to feeling better.

please do let us know how she is feeling...is it a high fever?

I've been told that the only thing swollen glands actually tells you is infection...not that that helps any.

Temp has been between 101 and 102. I didn't give her any advil today for the headache until about 6 pm because I wanted the fever to work... Overall she is handling it ok..but she def doesn't feel well.

Mono would be horrible... blech...

yes, mono is gross....hoping you get it figured out soon...her fever doesn't seem to be scary so hopefully it will do its job.

Sounds like what we have here, and I wondered if it was mumps too. The fever was short-lived though.

she is sleeping fine... She is slightly fevered this morn but not bad.. says her throat feels like it has sores in it... and the glands aren't as swollen as they were...

Princess just had mono this past Feb. She was a very seriously sick kiddo. Her throat looked gray, there was so much junk on her tonsils. And they looked almost swollen to the point of blocking her throat. She ran a horrible high fever, didn't want to eat anything, and slept at the drop of a hat. The test was a simple blood stick...it looked like a blood sugar test for diabetics.

If you suspect mono at all...please consider checking her spleen. Princess' got really big really fast. So much so that she was ordered to stay away from any instances that could mean spleen contact for a little over 8 weeks instead of the normal 4.

Not to scare you. Princess gets sick with aplomb when she does it...which is, thankfully, not often. I just wanted to let you know exactly what it looked like at our house. Hugs to your DD!

If her glands are already not as swollen, it doesn't sound like mono.

Thanks for that info Haley. I don't think that is what she has. She is sick..but not THAT sick ya know... Still running a fever today... is eating a little bit. Still drinking fluids. Throat still sore when she swallows.

so... we have a dr app this afternoon at 4. She is fine during the day but around bedtime her fever gets higher and her head hurt worse.. She sleeps fine..but.. it doesn't hurt to have it looked at I guess. Am seeing a dr I haven't seen in years which is slightly frustrating but that is what our insurance covers...

they strep tested and it came back negative. the dr was going send it in for the full culture. so I opted to wait it out and see what they find. She is getting better pretty sure..

Here is a funny.. the nurse was looking in her throat and apparently had her mouth open and L told her that her taste buds were brown... I about died laughing... It was rather rude but it was so L it was too funny. The nurse laughed and kind of made a big deal over it but it was ok..LOL
