ISO wheat free, vegan recipes that actually taste good
Starting Thursday I begin the 3rd trimester of this pregnancy. To (try) and prevent this babe from having severe allergies like DS has, I am going egg, wheat & dairy free. I have NO good recipes (especially for chocolatey stuff ) So far, recipes I have tried that I can do are:
stir fry w/rice noodles , veggies & wheat free soy sauce roast w/potatoes, onions, carrots soups beans & rice (or lentils) corn/rice cereal w/soy milk fruit salad oatmeal/grits I guess I am looking for dinner ideas & baking ideas. Anyone? |

OK, I can't find it.
Kawani, I have honestly tried to think of something to suggest for you, in addition to hijacking your thread. :/ We eat a lot of wheat! Then I think of something that doesn't have wheat, and it has seafood. (b/c we do eat seafood, even though we don't eat any other meat or meat products...well, except DH & DDs eat (free-range) eggs) |

Sorry, here it is. Of course, it's CF if it's Vegan.
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Vegan-and-Gluten-Free/ Really the Thanksgiving "Turkey" Roast looks so good.

Re: ISO wheat free, vegan recipes that actually ta
Thanks, Heather.
Ok, Kawani... What about potato soup? I potato soup. Basically, I saute some onion and garlic. Then I peel and cube as many potatoes as I want. I add them to the pot and barely cover with water. Sometimes I add diced carrots too. Then I boil until the potatoes practically cook down. It will thicken quite a bit on its own, but you can also put some of it in the blender to puree and add back in. Sometimes I throw in broccoli towards the end. Oh, and DH's favorite recipe...it has bulgar, though (I should know, and I have a book all about grains, but I'm not sure if bulgar is considered wheat or not. )...you can adapt it as needed: http://vegweb.com/recipes/soup/chili13.shtml Given it's spring, though...you can do what we'll be doing... lots of salads. OK, now I feel better about hijacking your thread. I've been thinking all day (off and on) about what I could contribute. :/ |
