Whining - make it stop!
C whines about every thing we do all day long - doing chores before playing with friends/screen time, doing school (we haven't started this year yet but I'm dreading it), quiet time, no dessert until after lunch and eating healthy foods, any other rule we have, bed time, etc., etc. etc.
I can't stand it anymore! What do I do? Can there be a consequence for complaining? These are things that happen every day and it would just be nice to get through the day without crying about all the things.

Re: Whining - make it stop!
winning is done in their rooms. Period I have no patience for it. Use words ask for changes and we might negotiate something but as for flat out complaining nope do it to the wall...

Re: Whining - make it stop!
Does he watch Calliou? Nix it.
When A is on a whining kick,I've done all sorts of things. Modify my voice to be deeper, squeaky, goofy, whisper, etc. A little of this goes a long way. Sometimes I start singing things to her until she starts to sing back. I script polite tone of voice. Sometimes I briefly point out the obvious "you are whining and it's hurting my ears." A change of scenery or activity helps. "Okaaaay, people are feeling grumpy, let's get some fresh air and look for bugs!" Just a few that pop to mind. Sometimes my kid is whining because she has heard me whining about cleaning or the car repairs Then I fess up and try to model how I hope she will handle things. |
