ok, so:

1 cup per bath when taken externally (or as a pack or just the powder, depending on need) and a 1 to 10 ratio when taken internally? so, 1 T clay to 10 T water? is that right?

what are you using it for? the above could be taken differently depending.
But yes, internal is 1 to 10 (not tap water, and start lighter or less amount for first 3 days)
external is 1 to 3
or 1c of powder into a bath (but i wouldnt use that much at first or if taking it internally at the same time)

ok, thanks! i'm mostly wanting general health benefits, but i do have this KP on my arms that bugs me, and i was thinking clay would help that. not sure if i should do internal, external, or a bath for that.

You can buy drain guards like these: http://www.amazon.com/Wallrich-Bath-.../dp/B0009Q4W9K
I've also read about using cheesecloth/muslin over the drain.

Me - why the precautions around clay dust? Is it dangerous to inhale? Also, why shouldn't you store it in tupperware?

Oh, one more thing I've found to be successful...I have eczema on my hand and it got infected; I'm not sure if it's a bacterial or fungal infection. Anyway, I've been hydrating the clay with ACV instead of water and it's working much better than just clay mixed with water.

Jen- you could just do a pack on it externally but if you do internal at the same time it will work much much faster.

its like talc. its a fine dust in the air and isnt good for babies. no different then peds not recommending baby powder because if one isnt careful its not good. and i had asthma, sometimes when one of the kids brings me the jar shaken up and i lift the lid off, i have to clear my throat because it does go through the air. im mindful of those things since i once had to be very careful about my lungs. same when shaking it into the bath. no biggie really, just something i notice that some people might want to know.

And about the tupperware. I use to premix mine in a glad bowl till i ran across a site that said not to store it that way. only in a specific type of plastic, like the one it comes in, the name escapes my mind right now. then i noticed that all the places selling clay either used that particular plastic or glass. makes sense. since it absorbs. if you leave it in that type of plastic long enough it will absorb whatever it is able to. if it can pull metals from my body im sure it can pull from plastic.

I love clay and acv too thats what i did for my facials when my eczema use to flare. now i just use water but before i use to have to add acv to get the same results.

K- so I hydrated my clay this weekend and finally dug it out from the mess on my counter and took some this morning. How much should I be taking initially (internally)? I did 1/2 tsp, which I wonder if it's too little or what.....

Plus, I forgot about the no metal rule and used a metal measuring spoon. Is it all bad now? What's the point of no metal?

i wouldnt use it. clay is very effective in adsorbing metals. we did and others do a metal detox on children with autism, its so effective. if it can pull trace amounts through a persons skin........

I drank my first bit today. I mixed liquid clay with grapefruit juice and didn't taste it at all.

I want to learn about this, so I'm until I have a chance to read the posts. I have heard it is good for battling candida.

I only use very little. Like a teaspoon in bottle of water and let it sit for a day. Then I mix that into a smoothie. I'm sure its not the recommended dosage though.

She said it was safe for nursing in the e-mail she sent to me.
I had heard it was not safe to do a detox with it while nursing.
