Soy
I am thinking about giving soy a try again, and hoping my body doesn't totally reject it. The fact that I haven't been able to have tofu is really the only thing holding me back from going vegan.
But it seems like all you hear about on blogs and social media is about how bad soy is. It's horribly demonized! So, I'm wondering...what are your thoughts? And have you come across any positive soy articles lately? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Re: Soy
I really like soy. I choose non-gmo soy, and try to eat soy in moderation. I love tofu. It would be hard for me to go without it. I hope you will be able to eat it again. I wonder if it might help to try some fermented soy first, like perhaps miso? That might be easier to digest.
Here are a few articles about soy: http://foodrevolution.org/blog/the-truth-about-soy/ http://freefromharm.org/health-nutri...isinformation/ http://www.veganhealth.org/articles/soy_

Re: Soy
I obviously need to get some new links for our soy sticky. But, you don't need soy to be Vegan. Dr McDougall actually considers soy a condiment as he recommends a lower protein and low fat diet.
That said tempeh might be a nice thing to try. I love Gardein chiken strips when I want something meaty.

Re: Soy
Good call on Dr. McDougall...I wonder if any of his wife's cookbooks will help you avoid soy, if that's your decision.
I was raised on soy...my mom used to make tofu from scratch. I wouldn't say it was a big part of our diet. The negative press soy has received has not been my family's experience. For a few years I avoided it due to fear mongering, but I've come back to a middle ground. I eat some.
