Help! Will buckwheat be ok instead of Wholemeal flour?
I have visitors and would like to make quick Irish soda bread right now.
But no plain Wholemeal flour at home! Will buckwheat flour be ok? If not, then strong Wholemeal bread flour?! (need to use up buttermilk today) Thanks for ideas!!

I'm not sure I would use it to make Irish soda bread, buckwheat does have a significant taste.

Re: Help! Will buckwheat be ok instead of Wholemeal flour?
You're right - I ended up mixing strong 3/4 Wholemeal and 1/4 buckwheat - I could still taste the buckwheat slightly. In oven now.
Could really do with getting rid of buckwheat flour while people are here...since we ourselves are mOstly grain free.
