Psoriasis
Psoriasis runs in my family. My grandma has it, my mom has it horribly, and I had my first breakout in my teens. Every once in a while I have an outbreak on my scalp and maybe a spot or two on my body, but it goes away quickly. Right now I have it on my elbows, some spots on my scalp, and little red dots which I think are it too all over my body. Are there any natural ways to treat this? I searched but couldn't find much online. I did find that you could use evening primrose oil by mouth and also as a topical which I did. Also, zinc is supposed to. Anyone have any experience with this? I hate psoriasis.

Re: Psoriasis
Sunshine helps. I never found anything else that reliably helped much.

Re: Psoriasis
Thanks! Well, I've been putting the evening primose oil on it and taking it, taking my magnesium and calcium, and putting some diaper ointment I have with zinc, on it. It seems to be getting better slowly. I think the combo of stress and not enough of the vitamins did it. I have been VERY stressed. I'm also not using HOT water in the bath anymore. Oh and trying to not scratch which made my moms worse. My moms literally covers her scalp, a leg, elbows which she got as a teenage because she scratched it and made it worse after a scrape with the razor on her leg. So I have always had a fear of it taking over my body but hopefully this is just an outbreak and will heal.

Re: Psoriasis
Those sound like good measures to take. My son who has it does a lot of heavy duty moisturizing.
I used to notice stress would seem to increase it, too. I think your observation is on, there. |

Re: Psoriasis
I have it. Covering my body. I don't know why. Mine seems more aggressive than just about anyone I have heard of. Nothing natural has ever helped mine. I am taking shots to help and have tried 3 different ones. the first 2 didn't help long term, just a few weeks. I just started the 3rd one a week ago and so far it is helping some. We will see. i also did chemo and the first time it helped, the second time it didn't.

Re: Psoriasis
RiAnnon, I'm happy to hear you're seeing some progress. What's the name of the drug that seems to be helping?

Re: Psoriasis
Stelara. It is fairly new and works differently than the Humira and Enbrel. I am hoping this is the one. the flaking is almost gone and it is getting a little less red. It just looks really dry and ashy with redness underneath. I was able to take a bath last night and not lotion! Haven't done that in about 3-4 months. I won't trust this unless I clear and stay clear for at least 6 months. So....waiting to see from here!
