Re: Talk to me about coconut oil
This site was recommended to me - https://www.greenpasture.org/products/ Their cost for 1 gallon is about $40. It's organic, cold pressed coconut oil. If you had someone local to split shipping with, it's not too bad. It's cheaper for me just to order nutiva from frontier.

Re: Talk to me about coconut oil
Dd & I have both been loving coconut oil (we keep it in the fridge and eat a little piece like it was candy... yummmmmmmm). Dh didn't notice the taste at all when I used it in his eggs or corn muffins.
I just r'cd my order from vitacost which included my nutiva I already opened it bc I wanted to compare it to the Jarrows I have(the coconutty one, jarrows also has a "no coconut flavor" one). I think the Jarrows is a little more coconutty tasting than the Nutiva, but the Nutiva wins out on cost.

Re: Talk to me about coconut oil
Amazon also carries Nutiva in their grocery section, $22 for 54 oz and it's eligible for free shipping if your total order is at least $25

Re: Talk to me about coconut oil
So I put the CO all over my body and face after my shower today! It was GREAT! My skin feels sooooooo smooth already. I put it all over my dd too after her bath and she seemed to like it too. My dh commented that I smelled lovely.
So then I told him all about the CO and he's all in! We are using it tonight to cook some chicken up and he even wants me to make those candies! He has excema really bad on his legs so he plans to start using it for that. I'm so glad I got this stuff! I got mine from our local co-op, it's raw organic virgin cold pressed CO and it's made pretty locally, in Eugene, Or. Of course the coconuts don't come from Eugene, but I like that it's made close by me. Oh and it was 4.80 cents I believe, plus my 10% off discount, so I think I'll stick with getting this stuff rather than buying some online. |

Re: Talk to me about coconut oil
Hmm. I buy Swanson brand and really like it, but the Nutiva on Amazon is a bit cheaper. I might try it. I hope it's as good!

Re: Talk to me about coconut oil
Last night I was getting hungry and so I decided to finally open the CO I bought and eat a spoonful. YUCK! It tasted like plastic. Well, it was the Spectrum brand and I noticed that it WAS NOT extra virgin, not even virgin BUT it will be great for cooking b/c of the lack of taste. Now on to buy extra virgin somewhere!

Re: Talk to me about coconut oil
yeah, the refined kind is not so good.. doesn't have the benefits, either.

Re: Talk to me about coconut oil
I like the Nature's Way well enough. I think it's comparable to Nutiva, but the store near us carries it in tiny tiny jars, and I get the Nutiva by the gallon.
