Do your kids eat cold cereal most mornings for breakfast?
I'm just curious. It sure is easy. Just wondering what the general GCM population does about this.

Cut fruit, oatmeal and sometimes homemade turkey sausage. Almond milk is too expensive to waste in cereal

Nope. Almost never. We are eggs and breakfast meat people.
Cereal is mostly a desserty treat here.

Although it's not what I had given them when they were younger, and wish it were different now (as in I offer others but they won't eat it) it's cold cereal every morning.

Quote:
I just bought cold cereal last week for the first time in like 4 years (seriously). And it was SO EASY all last week. I have 5 kids. Normally, the kids eat either eggs or oatmeal, occassionally I'll make pancakes, baked oatmeal, cream of wheat cereal, french toast, bacon, or maybe some sausage. I'll also sometimes make biscuits and even gravy. But, the norm was/is oatmeal or eggs. But, it is SO MUCH EASIER to do cold cereal like we did last week. I'm considering going to it all the time because it helped That Much. |

Re: Do your kids eat cold cereal most mornings for breakfast?
Nope. It would cause massive meltdowns to have no protein or fat for breakfast.
They have other ready options of cheese, boiled eggs or something similar they can grab when they need to eat before I'm finished cooking.

Re: Do your kids eat cold cereal most mornings for breakfast?
No, I never buy cold cereal, behaviorally they can't handle the carb rush and it throws off their whole day, and it's a very high cost/low nutrition food especially since we'd have to buy gluten free cereal so it's all rice and/or corn.

Re: Do your kids eat cold cereal most mornings for breakfast?
My kids aren't big cereal eaters. Sometimes I will make them smoothies. On the days I don't, N usually has a cheese stick and some type of bread (toast, muffin, tortilla). P usually has yogurt or cream of wheat mixed with apple sauce. P does like a cup of dry cheerios as a snack.

Re: Do your kids eat cold cereal most mornings for breakfast?
Usually that or oatmeal for A. She gets second breakfast at school and has some cheese and pb crackers.
Little man usually wants long nursing over breakfast, but sometimes he wants what A has and I give him a couple tbsps of cereal with a splash of milk. Hes more of an oatmeal kid though. |

Re: Do your kids eat cold cereal most mornings for breakfast?
gf oatmeal (which isn't very cheap but I cant convince dh - he feels oatmeal is a hearty breakfast) and eggs. Or Pb toast with a banana and raw milk.
We go thru waay too much milk (and it often gets wasted) if we have cereal ...it is a special dessert. Seriously dh will often bring home a special box for a date night. Oh we also often have quinoa (well I cant eat it I just have eggs that morning) with a splash of milk some cinnamon and honey.

Re: Do your kids eat cold cereal most mornings for breakfast?
No... it's expensive and has very little nutritional content so the convenience is really not worth it to me. We sometimes buy granola bars if we know we'll be needing fast and easy for a while, but we usually have yogurt (plain Greek yogurt with a little honey to sweeten), oatmeal, fruit, eggs, toast... that sort of thing.
The yogurt option is just as quick and easy as cold cereal would be, IME Spoon the yogurt into bowls and put a bit of honey in each. Then the girls usually add nuts, seeds, dried fruit, and sometimes oats to the yogurt to make it *more* than just yogurt.
