Question Alternatives to a desk (for me)

I don't have the space to have a desk in my kitchen or main living area. I have a desk in my bedroom which I never use because I'm so rarely in my bedroom.

Any ideas for storing important papers? I only keep papers in the kitchen that are relevant.

I'll try to post a picture of what I'm currently using.

What is it you need out of a desk? Do you need a place to file away papers? Do you need a flat area to work on? A memo space?

What about a filing box that you can bring to any table as needed? Something like this: https://www.staples.ca/en/Staples-Le...0_1-CA_1_20001

I keep everything in binders which I love. For temporary paper and mail organization I have a file organizer and it has these folders

Look at
(Coupons, ads, anything I need to consider)

Action
(Anything I have to do something about)

File
(Stuff that I’m done with that needs to go in a binder)

Monthly
(Bills)

Keepsakes
(Pics and such that I want to keep)

Kids
(Mail or paper that belongs to my kids - 2 are adults)

For things I need access to now I use an accordion file. For storage I have a carrying file box. For mail I have a counter basket.

I’ve tried so many things and ideas from online and failed many times. This is the “low key version” for me.

This is similar to my basic system. The carrying file box is one that I can pull out to file when I have multiple papers like medical, school, home, etc. Our file box is step 2 in our organization process. Step 1 is to put papers in something like this near our kitchen area that holds incoming mail (or general things for either hubby or I), one for me (things I need to deal with when I have time) and one for him (things he needs to deal with when he has time). HEN it goes into the carrying file box when I have more time. Kids school papers - not sure if you have this issue as a homeschooler - but I like to have a special box for papers i need to sign or review so that they can put them in the box and I review/sign and give back.

Yeah, I've tried things and had them not work, too.

I have weekly recipes and menu plans.

I have bills that I need to do something other than pay (make a phone call).

I have sports schedules.

I have things I've cut or printed out that I need to read and sort to prep for coop.

I have a planner that I use sporadically.

Right now I have weekly menus and recipes clipped on the side of the fridge. It's working okay.

I have a magnetic bin that holds stamps and random small things that I need.

Other papers kind of float. This week I'm trying to keep them with my weekly recipes/menu. That way I see them almost daily as I look through the food plan.

I also have a canvas bag where I keep MY homeschool books, things I'm still reading through or that I use as a reference in discussions and I don't want the kids losing them or something. I keep my planner in here, too, which means it's not all that convenient.

I really want DH to rip out these stupid window seats we have (they're too narrow to be a real window seat) so I can have a desk in the kitchen.
