Get as much as you can off and then rub eucalyptus oil until the rest comes off.

I have found that coconut oil dissolves other things on wood like wax so you may want to give it a try on the gum and then it also makes the wood like new

Any kind of oil will dissolve gum, it's just a matter of how much. I personally would go with something like petroleum jelly or coconut oil because they are solid and more easily controlled so you won't have a grease spot. If you have some kind of cooking oil, then dabbing it on a cloth and rubbing it would work as well.
