Default Favorite Charlotte Mason quotes

I wanted a place where I could put my favorite Charlotte Mason quotes. And possibly discuss a few of them with other CM moms.

Quote:
"if punishment were necessarily reformative, and able to cure us all of those 'sins we have a mind to,' why, the world would be a very good world; for no manner of sin escapes its present punishment. The fact is, not that punishment is unnecessary or that it is useless, but that it is inadequate and barely touches our aim; which is, not visitation for the offense, but the correction of the fault of the character of which the offense is the outcome. -Charlotte Mason Parents and Children pg. 172
Quote:
"we must find out what week place in character, what false habit of thinking, leads Jemmy to tell lies, and we must deal with this false habit in the only possible way, by forming the contrary habit of true thinking, which will make Jemmy grow up a true man." -Charlotte Mason Parents and Children pg. 173

Default Re: Favorite Charlotte Mason quotes

I love Charlotte Mason, even though I didn't homeschool that way just because of my personality. I always said that if I were a different person, that's how I would want to homeschool (I needed to check boxes off and follow something very structured). I used to go to all the Charlotte Mason talks at our homeschool conferences just to feel inspired . Looking forward to more quotes that you find to share....
