Little Girl doll carrier?
I just made this carrier for DD:
http://www.sewbossi.com/2012/10/baby...-tutorial.html and it worked out ok, but she is 3 and will definitely outgrow it soon. Plus it just doesn't seem to fit and hang right. It's ok for now, she is just super excited to be able to wear her babies like Mommy but I want to make a nicer one in the future. Does anyone know of a good pattern? I don't mind paying a reasonable amount for a pattern.

Re: Little Girl doll carrier?
You could just make a mei tai. Or, you could do what we did, which was to get a rectangle of stretchy velour and knot it into a shortie one-shoulder sling. That one she could use herself.
Or you can use a length of cloth and tie her into a front-wrap cross carry. Or a back one, for that matter! |

We have both a MT (I just did a rectangle w/ straps.. nothing fancy!), and a long piece of material for a "wrap" both are pretty easy to use/adjustable (fit both the 5 y/o and the 2 y/o). You could also do a ring sling for something a little fancier, but would last a little longer.

Re: Little Girl doll carrier?
I made a ring sling for my 4 year old out of leftover quilting fabric. I made it two layers (sew and turn) and just gathered the end and threaded it onto a double carabiner ring we had lying around. It was super easy and fits both her and the 1 year old.

Re: Little Girl doll carrier?
I've never used a Mei Tei so I'm not familiar with how they work. But I've made a ring sling so making a little one for DD is a good idea. I think with a wrap I'd spend all day putting it on and taking it off her

Re: Little Girl doll carrier?
No advice, but I just looked at the tutorial in the op this morning. I'm thinking of making my DDs a mei tai. I could probably use the materials from the one I started sewing for me last Christmas and never finished.

Haha.. yes, it's a little bit of pain to get them all tied up, and then they want it off At least mine usually only ask to wear every once in a while!

This is why I'm so back and forth between making a ring sling and a mai tie for my boys. I'm thinking of making one of each and they can share them both. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Re: Little Girl doll carrier?
Ring slings are easiest to get on and off - my 4 year old does it herself.
We had a poorly designed buckle carrier and it was too much work for me! What about a mei tai with a snap-buckle waist but ties on the top? I've toyed with the idea of making something with a loop to keep the straps crossed in the back (perhaps just threading them through a hair elastic, even) and an easy to undo buckle so that the kids can put it on and take it off with little help. Maybe that would be the place for velcro.
