My favorite "tempt myself back into raw food land" meal. I can never turn it down because it's sooo pretty.
The hummus was supposed to be sprouted, but our grocery ran out of dried chickpeas last week . I stocked up on dried organic ones today. Hummus on a bed of arugula, mint, dandelion, basil, cinnamon basil, kale and cilantro. ETA: I'm so proud of us...all the greens came from our own little organic garden! |

I've been failing miserably for so long. Can I blame it on pregnancy?
I want to get back on track around 1month pp when I can really get out and focus on my goals. |

BTW will you post your hummus recipe? It look delicious! I have to admit I've never made my own before. But I could eat hummus all day long, so this is something I must learn how to make.

Wow that looks so delicious!! Awsome that all that came out of your own garden! Oh how I wish I had a garden!
I am making the crust for RAW apple pie tonight and will crank out the apples tomorrow morning- bringing it to a blessingway tomorrow! Oh- and for those who are 75% raw I really recommend Natalia Rose's book, "The Raw Foods Detox Diet" - she recommends NOT going 100% raw right away, but gradually moving up to that. |

I'm terrible at exact measurements, so bear with me. I'd also wager that everyone's hummus recipe looks a little different, so others might post, too.
Hummus: 1 C chickpeas 1 TB tahini splash of lemon juice (to taste) 1 large clove garlic handful of olives 1 slice sweet onion whatever fresh herbs I have on hand splash of Olive Oil we also toss in (if we have it on hand) any of the following: red bell/green bell kale spinach blend until smooth, you can add |

Do you use dry chick peas? Soaked? Sprouted?
I can't WAIT to make this! |

Re: Calling all wanna-be RAW foodies! pics, recipes, & post your progress! Come on!!
O.k.--I'm starting new today. I plan to do raw for breakfast and lunch and eat whatever everyone else is having for dinner. This worked out well for me last year and I felt GREAT for the 4 months I did it.
So far today: Cherry smoothie 1/3 bag frozen cherries Frozen chopped spinach ( I prefer fresh, but this is what I have in the house) About 1/3 cup 1 cup soy milk 1 TBS slightly melted coconut oil (this way there are no chunks) dash of agave nectar I have also been known to add 1-2 TBS Raw cacao powder---mmm cherry/chocolate I have Flax Crackers in the oven dehydrating: 1 cup flax meal (made by grinding whole flax seeds in my extra coffee grinder) some Bragg's--go easy b/c it's salty dash onion powder (can use garlic powder, add herbs or other spices) water to make it pourable Mix together, let sit for a couple of minutes then spread very thinly on a jellyroll pan or similar (I sprayed mine). Dehydrate in dehydrator or oven. After a couple of hours I flip the whole thing. When they are crisp you can break them up and put in a baggie or container. I often eat these with sunflower seed paste: sunflower seeds (raw, preferably soaked for a couple of hours) garlic powder or onion powder dash of bragg's some lemon juice Mix everything in the food processor till smooth, scraping down sides as necessary. You can add cilantro, dill or other herbs to this. Today I have also eaten a couple of handfuls of raw sunflower seeds and plan to have salad for lunch, adding raisins, sunflower seeds and raw almonds. |

For the Flax Crackers, about how long do they take to dehydrate in the oven?

Re: Calling all wanna-be RAW foodies! pics, recipes, & post your progress! Come
I'm a major wanna be . I LOVE raw veggies and spreads and such, as well as smoothies. I get discouraged by the prep though... that's what gets me. What's funny is my kids will eat any of that stuff that I make. They love green smoothies. My hubby is the only one I'd have to cook something for.
I've decided to add more and more raw to my diet and work up that way. I'm going to start with raw before noon. Then work up to raw before dinner... and so on. The recipes in this thread look AMAZING!!! I can't wait to make them!! I had a green smoothie about an hour ago, and I seriously feel like I took a happy pill. It's so weird. Good weird . Question about the flax crackers: Doesn't dehydrating them at 200 degrees in the oven make them non raw? I thought the cut off was 116? Or is it that if you leave the oven slightly ajar the flax crackers don't actually make it to that temperature? |

As for me--I have fallen off the raw wagon completely and have been even eating stuff that I NEVER would eat. It's bad. Must get motivated to change my thoughts and stop being so lazy about food prep. |
